Black spruce is a tall, narrow evergreen tree with a spire-like crown. It has descending branches, with beautiful, dark, bluish-green needles with and upturned ends. Lower limbs sweep the ground, providing wildlife habitat. It is an excellent choice for wetlands in cold, northern climates.
