Symphyotrichum laeve, also known as Smooth Blue Aster, is a perennial wildflower native to Michigan and the UP. Plant reaches 3 feet tall and flowers from August to October with a lavender/blue blossom. It prefers full sun, medium to dry soil and will grow in loam or sand. Best aster for sunny garden beds. Lovely thick blue-green leaves. Very popular with pollinators and an important late-season resource for bees and butterflies. Butterfly host plant.
